On Sunday, September 7, 2025, at 3:16 am, Turlock Police responded to a vandalism in progress in the 1000 block of Bethany Ave.
The caller reported a man yelling and possibly hitting her vehicle. She believed the man was drunk as he was moaning and making strange movements, before lying on the ground and on top of her vehicle’s hood.
When Officer Rocha arrived on scene, he located and detained Alex Lopez, 47, of Turlock, in handcuffs.
Through the investigation, it was determined that the vehicle had fresh scratches that Lopez had likely caused. The damage was estimated to be in excess of $400, making it a felony. There was also a belt on the ground next to the vehicle that wasn’t there earlier, and Lopez wasn’t wearing a belt.
Lopez was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center for vandalism.
