Tree falls and slices right through the middle of a home Monday morning

On Monday, January 16, 2023, at 6:39 am, the Turlock Fire Department was dispatched to a reported hazard at a residence in the 1500 block of E Hawkeye Ave, Turlock, after a tree had fallen onto the home.

When firefighters arrived on scene, they found a large tree that had fallen and sliced right through the middle of a single-story single-family dwelling.

One resident was inside the home at the time of the incident, however, they escaped uninjured.

Seven displaced after tree falls onto apartment building Wednesday night

On Wednesday, January 4th, 2023, at 9:48 pm, the Turlock Fire Department was dispatched to a hazard at Vilas Parkside, 381 W Hawkeye Ave, Turlock, after a tree had fallen onto an apartment building.

When firefighters arrived on scene, they found a large redwood tree that had been blown over by the strong winds and come to rest against a two-story apartment building.

Four units were evacuated and secured.

The American Red Cross responded and assisted four adults and three children who were displaced as a result of the incident.

No injuries were reported.

Tree falls onto two vehicles, traps and injures one Wednesday night

On Wednesday, December 15th, 2021, at 11:09 pm, the Turlock Fire Department, Turlock Police Department, and American Medical Response were dispatched to a reported rescue at Broadway Park, 501 N Broadway, Turlock.

When crews arrived on scene, they found a large tree that had fallen onto two vehicles, a gray Volvo sedan and a gray GMC SUV.

Both vehicles were parked on the side of the road. The gray Volvo sedan had one occupant who suffered minor injuries but refused to be transported to the hospital. He was trapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated by fire personnel. The gray GMC SUV had two occupants, both of which were uninjured.

Both vehicles sustained moderate damage.

The tree weighed an estimated four thousand pounds. City crews responded to clean up the mess it caused. They were on scene for several hours.

High winds at the time are the suspected culprits that caused the tree to fall.
