On Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at 12:05 am, Turlock Police responded to an armed robbery that had just occurred at DoubleTime in the 100 block of N Tully Rd.
The caller was a clerk who reported that he was hiding in the bathroom with a coworker after a man had entered the business wearing a mask, displayed a black handgun, and demanded cash from him to avoid being shot. Afraid for his safety, the clerk complied and gave the gunman about $370 before the gunman fled the area on foot.
No one was injured during the robbery.
As Officer Arroyo arrived on scene and began his investigation, he was able to identify a getaway vehicle that the gunman had gotten into after initially getting away from the business on foot. That vehicle’s information was broadcast to allied agencies.
Later during the morning, the California Highway Patrol located the suspect vehicle in the City of Modesto. CHP officers detained the vehicle’s two occupants, Jose Herrarte, 33, of Modesto, and Jaime Camarillo, 37, of Modesto. Officer Arroyo then made his way to Modesto to complete his investigation.
It should be noted that Herrarte was on post-release community supervision for possession of methamphetamine for sale, while Camarillo had a $2,500 infraction bench warrant out of the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office for operating a vessel without a vessel operator card. Additionally, Herrarte was flagged as a gang member.
Through the investigation, Herrarte was identified as the gunman, while Camarillo was identified as his getaway driver. Officer Arroyo called a deputy probation officer and informed him of the incident. The DPO authorized that Herrarte be placed on a flash hold.
Herrarte and Camarillo were arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center, Herrarte for robbery, conspiracy, and violation of post-release community supervision, and Camarillo for conspiracy and his warrant.
The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information that could assist is encouraged to call Officer Arroyo at 209-668-6553.
