Suspect from September 2019 attempted homicide arrested
On Sunday, September 8th, 2019, at approximately 1:05 am, the Turlock Police Department received a call of a large fight in progress in the area of N Broadway and W Main St.
Officers arrived on scene and located a female victim laying unconscious in the roadway who had been struck by a vehicle, which immediately fled the area. She was transported to a local area hospital and treated for multiple major injuries. Officers remained on scene and collected evidence, processed the crime scene, and conducted multiple witness interviews. Officers learned that the incident began as a result of a large fight between two separate groups. During the fight, a subject who had been involved in the altercation was seen intentionally driving his red or burgundy Honda sedan toward a group of people in the area.
The investigation was turned over to detectives who conducted additional interviews and reviewed surveillance footage from multiple downtown businesses. Throughout their investigation, they were able to identity the driver of the Honda as Larry Lee, 20, of Modesto. A warrant was obtained for Lee in December 2019.
On Wednesday, January 27th, 2021, at approximately 6:00 pm, officers with the department’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) spotted Lee on Rutgers Ave after many hours of undercover surveillance. A traffic stop was made on Annhurst Ave at E Tuolumne Rd where Lee was arrested without further incident. Lee was booked in the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of attempted homicide, aggravated assault, and hit and run causing injuries.
The investigation remains on-going. Anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact Detective Frank Navarro at 209-664-7319 or by email at FNavarro@turlock.ca.us.
