Man suffers major injuries after being struck by hit and run driver Wednesday night

On Wednesday, June 30th, 2021, at approximately 9:45 pm, the Turlock Police Department received a call of an injury hit and run at Bonita Ave and E Olive Ave. Officers were dispatched along with American Medical Response and the Turlock Fire Department’s Battalion 4, Engine 31, and Squad 32.

The first officer on scene discovered a pedestrian down in the roadway with serious injuries. Fire and medical crews arrived on scene shortly after and transported the pedestrian to a local area hospital with major injuries. Officers began investigating and determined that the pedestrian was walking down Bonita Ave lawfully crossing E Olive Ave in a crosswalk when he was struck by a vehicle, that then failed to stop and drove off.

While investigating, the hit and run driver’s spouse arrived on scene after discovering what had happened and gave officers her husband’s information and where the involved vehicle was. Officers responded to that location, which was in the 900 block of Pioneer Ave, and did indeed find the involved vehicle. It was towed away to be used as evidence in the crime. Officers are still searching for the driver.
