Drunk driver arrested after injuring three in vehicle collision with major damage Saturday night

On Saturday, July 2nd, 2022, at 11:53 pm, the Turlock Police Department, Turlock Fire Department, and American Medical Response were dispatched to a reported vehicle collision with injuries at the intersection of E Christoffersen Pkwy and N Olive Ave, Turlock.

When crews arrived on scene, they found two vehicles involved. One was a black Chevrolet pickup truck and the other was a gray Honda sedan.

The black Chevrolet pickup truck had a single occupant, Daniel Andrade, 28, of Denair. He was still in his vehicle when crews arrived and was helped out by firefighters. He suffered minor injuries and was ground transported by American Medical Response to a local hospital. The gray Honda sedan had three occupants. Two suffered minor injuries and refused to be transported to the hospital, while one suffered major injuries and was ground transported by American Medical Response to a local hospital.

Both vehicles sustained major damage and were deemed inoperable as a result of the collision, requiring them to be towed away.

It’s currently unknown how the collision occurred.

Officers noticed that Andrade was exhibiting objective symptoms of being under the influence, so they asked him if he would participate in standardized field sobriety tests. He agreed and completed the tests.

Ultimately, based on the objective symptoms Andrade was exhibiting, his performance in the standardized field sobriety tests, the fact that he had just been involved in a collision, the fact that there were alcohol containers in his vehicle, his statements, and the totality of the circumstances, officers determined that he was under the influence of alcohol.

Andrade was arrested and provided an evidentiary breath sample at the scene as required by California’s implied consent law. The results of the breath sample revealed that Andrade had a blood alcohol content of .08 or greater.

Andrade was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol causing injury and driving with a blood alcohol content of .08 or greater causing injury. He was also issued an administrative driver’s license suspension order by the California Department of Motor Vehicles and his vehicle was impounded.

  • I would hardly call her injuries moderate. She needs surgery. Has many broken bones and a collapsed lung. Because someone thought it was ok to drive drunk And where ever he was at they also let him leave drunk and drive . Thankfully she’s alive . Of course the drunk driver walks away without a scratch.

  • he was clearly so drunk while getting tested at the scene, couldn’t even walk straight. The girl was lucky to be alive from that hit, shes learning how to walk all over again. LEARN TO BE RESPONSIBLE AND NOT SCREW UP SOMEONES LIFE.
