Drunk driver arrested after attempting to flee from officer but crashing into fence Thursday night
On Thursday, September 1st, 2022, at 10:32 pm, a Turlock Police officer near the intersection of E Glenwood Ave and Golf Rd, Turlock, observed a vehicle violate the California Vehicle Code, so he attempted to make a traffic stop on it.
The driver of the vehicle, Jorge Quintero, 34, of Turlock, took off from the officer, however, did not make it very far and drove straight into the fence of a residence in the 2000 block of Golf Road.
A high risk stop was conducted and Quintero was detained in handcuffs at gunpoint.
When officers had their dispatcher run Quintero, he returned with a local $10,000 misdemeanor warrant for driving under the influence of alcohol and driving with a blood alcohol content of .08 or greater.
While officers were speaking with Quintero, they noticed that he was exhibiting objective symptoms of being under the influence. Ultimately, officers determined that he was under the influence of alcohol.
Quintero was arrested and provided an evidentiary breath sample at the scene as required by California’s implied consent law. The results of the breath sample revealed that Quintero had a blood alcohol content of .08 or greater.
Quintero was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, driving with a blood alcohol content of .08 or greater, and driving with a suspended driver’s license due to a DUI conviction, as well as his warrant. He was also issued an administrative driver’s license suspension order by the California Department of Motor Vehicles and his vehicle was impounded.
At the time of the collision, Quintero was the vehicle’s only occupant. He did not suffer any injuries.
Quintero’s vehicle sustained minor damage.
The collision occurred because Quintero was traveling at a high rate of speed eastbound on E Glenwood Ave and was unable to turn when he approached Golf Rd.
