Firefighters save threatened structure from dry grass fire Sunday afternoon

On Sunday, October 2nd, 2022, at 3:35 pm, the Turlock Fire Department was dispatched to a reported vegetation fire northbound State Route 99 at W Linwood Ave, Turlock.

When firefighters arrived on scene, they found an approximately half acre dry grass fire threatening a structure with smoke conditions that were making it difficult for drivers on the freeway to see.

Firefighters immediately began fire attack and were able to bring the fire under control prior to it reaching the threatened structure.

Firefighters remained on scene for an extended period of time afterwards, mopping up the fire and ensuring all the hotspots were out.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains unknown.
