Man in stolen vehicle arrested after temporary operating permit belonging to other vehicle discovered Thursday morning

On Thursday, October 13th, 2022, at 9:05 am, a Turlock Police sergeant near the intersection of E Hawkeye Ave and Geer Rd, Turlock, observed a vehicle violate the California Vehicle Code, so he made a traffic stop on it.

The vehicle had a temporary operating permit on it and at some point during the stop, the sergeant realized that it didn’t belong to that vehicle. The sergeant ran the vehicle’s identification number and it returned to be stolen out of Georgia.

The vehicle’s driver, Michael Garcia, 21, of Turlock, was arrested.

Garcia was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of possession of a stolen vehicle.
