Man arrested after stealing wheelchair and cash Monday afternoon

On Monday, November 28th, 2022, at 2:34 pm, the Turlock Police Department was dispatched to a reported larceny that had just occurred at Jack in the Box, 100 N Golden State Blvd, Turlock, where a man had stolen a wheelchair, some cash, and other personal belongings.

Officers took a report and cleared the call after being unable to locate the suspect in the area, however, were called back out shortly later after a witness spotted him near Mister Car Wash, 487 N Golden State Blvd.

Officers arrived in the area and made contact with a man who identified himself as Johnathan Chiname, 22, of Merced. A majority of the stolen property was located in Chiname’s possession and recovered.

Chiname was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of grand theft.
