Man leads deputies on pursuit into Turlock and escapes after losing them Sunday evening

On Sunday, January 8th, 2023, at 7:07 pm, a Stanislaus County Sheriff’s deputy near the intersection of Berkeley Ave and Alderson Rd, Hughson, observed a driver violating the California Vehicle Code, so he attempted to make a traffic stop on him, however, he took off from the deputy and a pursuit ensued.

The driver fled northbound on Berkeley Ave and then northbound on Santa Fe Ave, before turning eastbound on E Grayson Rd, going southbound on Berkeley Ave again, and entering Turlock.

In Turlock, the vehicle was lost near the intersection of Dancer Way and Fireside Dr.

The pursuit’s total distance traveled was just under four miles and it only lasted about three minutes. The highest speed reached was about 90 miles per hour.

Turlock officers responded and began assisting deputies with attempting to locate the vehicle, eventually locating it abandoned near the intersection of Knoxley Dr and Cherry Blossom Ln.

Deputies currently have very limited suspect information, however, will be conducting follow-up at a later time in an attempt to identify him.

The investigation remains ongoing.
