Tow truck driver shot at during road rage incident Monday morning

On Monday, March 20th, 2023, at 8:19 am, the Turlock Police Department was dispatched to a reported assault with a firearm that had just occurred at the intersection of Golf Rd and E Glenwood Ave, Turlock.

Officers arrived and contacted the victim at a nearby location who told them that he was driving down Golf Rd in his tow truck when he noticed a white 2015 Chevrolet Suburban with larger black aftermarket wheels in front of him traveling at a speed less than the posted speed limit.

As the victim approached the white Suburban, he honked his horn and the white Suburban began making a wide westbound turn onto E Glenwood Ave in a slanted direction. The driver of the white Suburban then brandished a black handgun at the victim and fired off several shots, shattering several of the victim’s windows. The white Suburban then fled westbound on E Glenwood Ave.

The incident was caught on surveillance camera video and officers were able to obtain the license plate of the white Suburban. Officers continue trying to identify their suspect.

The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information that could assist in it is encouraged to call Officer Martin Marquez at 209-668-1200.

  • Oh my goodness. I have family over there. This is sad it never happens close to home. This is something you hear about in bay area or LA area not here. I hope the tow truck driver is ok and the guy or guys responsible get caught.
