Officer helped out of patrol vehicle after being involved in collision Thursday morning

On Thursday, May 11th, 2023, at 11:07 am, a Turlock Police officer near the intersection of East Ave and Minaret Ave, Turlock, was involved in a collision with another vehicle.

Additional officers were dispatched as well as the Turlock Fire Department and American Medical Response.

When crews arrived on scene, they found two vehicles involved. The first was a silver 2020 Kia Soul and the second was a black and white 2019 Chevrolet Tahoe Turlock Police Department patrol vehicle.

Both vehicles only had single occupants, their drivers, neither of which were injured. The patrol vehicle was driven by Officer Derek Johnson, who had to be assisted out of it.

Both vehicles sustained moderate damage and were deemed inoperable as a result of the collision, requiring them to be towed away.

It’s currently unknown how the collision occurred.
