Gang retaliation shooting discovered after suspicious vehicle call early Monday morning

On Monday, June 5th, 2023, at 1:21 am, the Turlock Police Department was dispatched to a reported suspicious vehicle parked in front of a residence in the 400 block of Locust St, Turlock.

When officers arrived on scene, they found a maroon 2005 Scion xB that had had its back window shot out.

Officers located eight shell casings in the roadway which they examined, collected, and booked into evidence.

There had been calls reporting sounds of shots heard in the area about an hour prior, however, officers were unable to locate anything when they drove through that time.

No witnesses were available, however, information indicates that the incident was likely gang retaliation that had stemmed from a different shooting a week prior.

No injuries were reported and no suspect information is available.

The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information that could assist in it is encouraged to call Officer Brett Conrad at 209-668-1200.
