Parolee arrested on violation after driving recklessly in front of officer Wednesday night

On Wednesday, June 21st, 2023, at 8:08 pm, a Turlock Police officer near Fast Stop Liquor, 301 W Canal Dr, Turlock, heard sounds of a vehicle driving recklessly, so he began investigating.

The officer then observed a man driving a vehicle at a high rate of speed, so he made a traffic stop on him.

The man, later identified as Isaac Mendez, 23, of Turlock, became uncooperative with the officer so he had to be detained at gunpoint.

A large crowd then formed in the area and began causing a disturbance.

When the officer had his dispatcher run Mendez, he discovered that he didn’t have a valid driver’s license and was on parole for assault with a firearm.

The officer called Mendez’s parole agent and informed him of what had occurred. The agent found that there was probable cause a violation of parole had occurred, so he authorized that Mendez be held until a parole revocation hearing can take place.

Mendez was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of reckless driving and violation of parole.
