Woman arrested after lighting fire that spread to restaurant’s exterior Thursday morning

On Thursday, July 27th, 2023, at 10:27 am, the Turlock Fire Department was dispatched to a reported fire behind Central Station Bar and Grill, 10 E Main St, Turlock.

When firefighters arrived on scene, they found a debris fire of a transient’s belongings that had spread to the exterior of one of the train car dining rooms.

Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire within a few minutes, preventing any spread to the interior of the train car.

Due to suspicious circumstances, the Turlock Police Department and Stanislaus Regional Fire Investigation Unit responded to investigate.

Officers and an investigator contacted and interviewed several subjects, including Jeannine Damon, 53, of Turlock, who was at Central Park.

Based on witness statements and surveillance camera video, officers determined that Damon was who lit the fire.

Damon was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on the charge of arson.

Central Station Bar and Grill didn’t open until dinner at 3:00 pm due to the incident.
