Expired Registration Leads to Felony Narcotics Arrest

On Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at 4:06 am, Turlock Police Officer Aziz got out with an occupied suspicious vehicle at Arco AMPM in the 200 block of N Golden State Blvd.

Upon conducting a records check, Officer Aziz discovered the vehicle’s registration had expired in 2019.

Officer Aziz made contact with and identified the vehicle’s occupant as Gary Arnold, 47, of Turlock. When Officer Aziz had his dispatcher run Arnold, he discovered he had a $15,555 misdemeanor bench warrant out of the Modesto Police Department for possession of a controlled substance and possession of methamphetamine.

Arnold was removed from his vehicle and arrested for his warrant. During a search of Arnold’s person incident to arrest, Officer Aziz located suspected fentanyl. Upon checking Arnold’s records of arrests and prosecutions (RAP sheet), Officer Aziz discovered he had at least two prior narcotics convictions.

Arnold was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center for possession of a hard drug with prior convictions and his warrant.
