On Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at 12:02 am, Turlock Police responded to a battery that had just occurred at Sonic in the 2100 block of W Main St.
The caller reported that her boyfriend had just been battered by someone who then started chasing him toward the Turlock Poker Room.
As Officer Gallegos arrived on scene, he contacted the victim, who told him that the suspect had a knife on him. Simultaneously, Officer Kauffman located someone who matched the suspect description, later identified as Adrian Diaz, 22, of Delhi, and began running from him. Diaz jumped a fence in an attempt to evade Officer Kauffman and was tackled shortly later.
Through the investigation, it was learned that in addition to battering the victim, Diaz had threatened him with a knife. Diaz also displayed objective symptoms of being under the influence of alcohol.
Diaz was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center for assault with a deadly weapon other than a firearm, threatening to commit a crime which will result in death or great bodily injury, resisting a peace officer, and disorderly conduct.
