On Friday, September 12, 2025, at 3:27 pm, Turlock Police, Turlock Fire, and American Medical Response responded to a sick person at a residence in the 4500 block of Fireside Dr.
The caller, later identified as Kelle Brassart, 44, of Turlock, reported that her daughter, Danielle Pires, 2, of Turlock, was drowning in their backyard pool, and she was unable to help her as she was in a wheelchair.
Officers Gutierrez and Simbalenko were the first to arrive on scene, beginning CPR on Pires. Fire and medical personnel arrived on scene shortly after, transporting Pires to Emanuel Medical Center. Unfortunately, Pires was declared deceased at 4:14 pm.
Due to the circumstances, detectives responded to the scene and conducted a thorough investigation. The investigation revealed that Brassart was responsible for Pires’ care at the time of the incident. Detectives also found evidence suggesting that alcohol or drugs may have been involved, and Brassart had multiple prior contacts with Turlock Police and referrals to Child Protective Services in other counties. In 2023, Brassart was arrested for child abuse.
At the conclusion of this investigation, Brassart was arrested.
“This is incredibly tragic,” said Chief Hedden. “Our hearts go out to the family, friends, and first responders who were impacted by this devastating loss.”
Brassart was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center for murder and child abuse or endangerment under circumstances likely to produce great bodily harm or death.
The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information that could assist is encouraged to call Detective Giovacchini at 209-668-6539.
