On Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at 4:46 am, Turlock Police Officer Lupe got out with a suspicious person at W Tuolumne Rd and N Walnut Rd.
Officer Lupe had noticed Joseph Shaw, 42, of Turlock, walking in the area, appearing intoxicated and littering. Shaw was associated with a hit-and-run traffic collision that Officer Lupe had handled earlier in his shift.
“The suspect fled on foot after the collision and was not located,” said Sergeant Cervantez. “Hours later, [Officer Lupe] located [intoxicated Shaw] walking in the area where the collision had occurred. [Shaw] was determined to have ties to the vehicle involved in the accident; paperwork with his name on it was also found in the vehicle; however, there were no witnesses who could identify him as the driver involved in the crash, and no other evidence indicated that he was the driver.”
Shaw was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center for disorderly conduct, littering, and jaywalking.
