Firefighters respond to grass fire underneath Linwood overpass Monday afternoon

On Monday, April 4th, 2022, at 2:35 pm, the Turlock Fire Department was dispatched to a reported vegetation fire at the intersection of W Linwood Ave and W Glenwood Ave, Turlock.

When firefighters arrived on scene, they found a grass fire about an acre large with a moderate rate of spread that was close to large farming equipment.

Firefighters were able to quickly bring the fire under control and put it out, keeping it contained to the grass.

Firefighters remained on scene for an extended period of time mopping up.

The fire created a lot of smoke which began causing a traffic hazard, especially on the freeway, however, no known vehicle collisions were caused as a result of it.

It appears that fire season has started early this year, as firefighters have responded to several vegetation fires over the past few days.
