Man arrested after cutting city water quality control facility fence Monday afternoon

On Monday, November 21st, 2022, at 4:14 pm, the Turlock Police Department was dispatched to a reported vandalism that had just occurred at the City of Turlock Regional Water Quality Control Facility, 901 S Walnut Rd, Turlock.

When officers arrived on scene, they found and made contact with a man later identified as Troy Long, 23, of Turlock.

Officers began investigating and were told by Long that he had unspooled the wiring on a fence leading into the facility to retrieve one of his tools that had been thrown over it. Officers then spoke to a witness who showed them a video of Long actually cutting it.

The damage was estimated to be about $500, a felony amount.

Long was arrested and a search incident to arrest led to the discovery of narcotics.

Long was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of vandalism and possession of a controlled substance.
