On Friday, August 1, 2025, at 11:11 pm, Turlock Police responded to a weapon offense in progress at Tesoro Fine Mexican Restaurant in the 1600 block of Lander Ave.
The caller reported there was a drunk man threatening people with a gun who was being restrained by others. It was then updated that the man had gotten into a vehicle and was leaving the area.
As Officer Ayala arrived in the area, he located the vehicle and stopped it in the 1900 block of Lander Ave. Additional officers arrived and assisted with conducting a high-risk stop. The vehicle’s two occupants, including passenger Daniel Gamboa, 36, of Delhi, were safely detained at gunpoint. Gamboa matched the provided suspect description.
A subsequent probable cause search of the vehicle led to the discovery of an unregistered Smith & Wesson SW9F 9mm handgun, which was loaded with a large-capacity magazine. During an in-field show-up, a witness was able to positively identify Gamboa as being in possession of the gun. Gamboa was also found to be in possession of methamphetamine and a large bag of marijuana.
Gamboa was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center for carrying a loaded firearm, carrying a concealed firearm, possession of a large-capacity magazine, and possession of methamphetamine.
The vehicle’s driver was released from detention, while the vehicle was towed.
