On Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at 12:02 am, Turlock Police Officer Aziz made a bicycle stop in front of Travelodge in the 200 block of W Glenwood Ave.
Officer Aziz made contact with the bicyclist, Michael Sano, 45, of Turlock, whom he immediately recognized from prior contacts. During the stop, Sano became increasingly agitated and began using expletives. Officer Aziz wrote Sano his first citation and had him sign it.
Sano then became impatient while Officer Aziz was working on writing his second citation and began to ride off. Officer Conrad, still seated in his patrol vehicle, warned Sano that if he rode off, he would be bitten by his partner, Canine Bjorn. Sano replied, “I’m going to beat your ass!”
Officer Conrad then exited his patrol vehicle and walked up to Sano, asking if he wanted to go to jail for threatening him. Officer Conrad then placed Sano under arrest, and all three officers attempted to detain him in handcuffs. Sano began to actively resist arrest. After a brief tussle, Sano was taken to the ground and detained in handcuffs.
Sano was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center for attempting to deter an executive officer by threat, operating a bicycle during darkness without a front-facing light, and riding a bicycle upon a sidewalk.
It should be noted that all the officers on scene were familiar with Sano and his history of being hostile toward law enforcement. Last year, Sano was involved in an altercation that left an officer with an injured wrist, causing him to miss work for several months. Sano’s 20-year-old son, with whom he shares the same name, was also arrested less than a month ago for assault with a deadly weapon.

The reporting is terrible. All I read from this writer how cops are targeting humans on drugs. What is the city doing to help individuals get off drugs? What activities are there to do for the youth? The only buildings being built are fast food restaurants. Let’s do better, this is terrible.
