On Monday, September 22, 2025, at 1:21 am, Turlock Police responded to a battery in progress at Super 8 in the 200 block of S Walnut Rd.
The caller was the clerk, who reported that a man and a woman from a room were pushing each other. The man was also seen throwing the woman’s belongings out of the room. Afterward, both returned to inside the room, and the woman was heard yelling.
When Officer McCrae arrived on scene, he knocked on the room door and was met by Victor Vasquez, 50, of Turlock. Vasquez was intoxicated and uncooperative, refusing to allow officers to speak with the other involved party. Vasquez then attempted to shut the door on officers several times, causing Officer McCrae to place his foot in the doorway to prevent Vasquez from shutting it. Vasquez then repeatedly struck Officer McCrae’s foot with the door.
During the contact, the woman was determined to still be present in the room. It was at that point that Vasquez was pulled out of the room and arrested, so officers could ensure the woman’s safety. Afterward, officers contacted the woman, who advised them that nothing had occurred beyond a verbal disturbance.
Vasquez was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center for resisting a peace officer.
