On Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at 12:44 am, Turlock Police Officer Aziz put himself on a suspicious person at Safeway in the 3000 block of Countryside Dr.
Officer Aziz had noticed and recognized Daniel Lunn, 30, of Hilmar, acting odd outside of the business. “When [Lunn] saw [Officer Aziz], he quickly walked into [the] store,” said Sergeant Cervantez. “After several minutes, [Officer Aziz] then tried to contact [Lunn] inside the store, but when he saw [Officer Aziz], he left.”
Outside of the business, Officer Aziz contacted Lunn and conducted a consent search of his person. The search led to the discovery of stolen merchandise from Safeway, suspected methamphetamine, suspected fentanyl, and drug paraphernalia. Lunn admitted to the theft, but the business didn’t want him arrested, only admonished about trespassing.
Lunn was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center for possession of methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Just an hour later, at 1:53 am, Officer Aziz made a pedestrian stop at Countryside Dr and Hotel Dr.
Officer Aziz had noticed and recognized Joseph Yonan, 36, of Turlock, who he knew was on searchable probation. During a subsequent probation search of Yonan, Officer Aziz located drug paraphernalia.
Yonan was arrested and released on a citation for possession of drug paraphernalia.
