Two arrested during traffic stop early Thursday morning
On Thursday, May 4th, 2023, at 12:18 am, a Turlock Police officer near the intersection of Geer Rd and E Tuolumne Rd, Turlock, observed a man driving a vehicle with a headlight out, so he made a traffic stop on him.
The officer made contact with and identified the vehicle’s two occupants, driver Hector Cardenas, 22, of Turlock, and passenger Diego Ornelas, 23, of Turlock.
When the officer had his dispatcher run the two, he discovered that Cardenas had a local misdemeanor warrant of arrest for disorderly conduct.
Cardenas was arrested and a vehicle search was then conducted. During the search, the officer located narcotics in the area where Ornelas had been seated. Ornelas was also arrested.
Cardenas was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on his warrant, while Ornelas was released on a citation on the charge of possession of a controlled substance.
